For a quarter of a century, the Associated General Contractors of Kentucky has presented the “Build Kentucky Awards” in recognition of the Commonwealth’s outstanding construction projects. Projects demonstrating innovation in construction techniques, state-of-the art advancement, community improvement, project management and environmental sensitivity are worthy of these respected awards.
Branscum Construction has been a past recipient with twenty projects being recognized with the “Build Kentucky Award” dating back to 1993. Two past Russell County projects to receive this award were the Russell County Auditorium and Natatorium (2010) and the Russell Springs First Baptist Church (2009).
The Russell County Public Library Board spent many years planning a new library that would better serve the community by offering space specifically designed for early childhood development, improve the sense of belonging for every age and offering vast community meeting space. The Library Board partnered with Branscum Construction Company, Inc. of Russell Springs, Kentucky to be their Construction Manager/ General Contractor, and the architectural firm Brandstetter Carroll, Inc of Lexington, Kentucky to design a facility that would be inviting to the entire community.
This landmark project is a uniquely designed 14,955 square foot open floor plan library located in Jamestown, Kentucky. The new library resembles a lodge, with a steel structural frame to allow for open faux painted steel girders, with windows from the ceiling to floor allowing natural light to pour in. There are multiple metal roof angles to give the building more character, while the exterior of the library is covered with stone, brick and Nichiha siding panels that blend together to give an alluring look. The interior is warm and welcoming with a large stone fireplace that gives the space a cozy feeling with a comfortable seating area. The bright splashes of colors in the flooring, lighting fixtures and paint gives the library a fun festive atmosphere. The only thing traditional in this state-of-the-art library are the books. Every angle is an adventure for the eyes.
Branscum Construction is honored to be recognized and able to share the “Build Kentucky Award” with the Russell County Public Library. Branscum’s Core Values have been the cornerstone of their success for more than 45 years. The result has been continuously exceeding the needs and expectations of their clients, while delivering a quality "Landmark Project" that the community and future generations will all be proud of.
The new Russell County Public Library is a beautiful building and is a landmark for Russell County.
